Michael Hwang S.C. was appointed as Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Argentina. He was also appointed as the non- resident Chief Justice of the DIFC Court, a Judicial Commissioner (a Judge for a fixed term of 19 months) of the Supreme Court of Singapore from 1991 to 1992, one of the first 12 Senior Counsels of the Supreme Court of Singapore, the Vice Chairman of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration, a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (The Hague), a Court member of the London Court of International Arbitration, a Trustee of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre and a Council Member of the International Council for Arbitration for Sport. He served as a Commissioner of the United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) based in Geneva, a body set up under the Security Council to assess claims against Iraq arising from the First Gulf War.
