XIAO Yongping
From: CICC Updated: 2024-09-25Xiao Yongping, senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Wuhan University, did collaborative researches at Harvard- Yenching Institute of Harvard University, at Max-Planck Institute of Foreign Private and Private International Law, at Temple University School of Law, at Birmingham University School of Law, at Groningen University Faculty of Law, and at Swiss Institute of Comparative Law. Now he acts as director of the Academy of International Law and Global Governance (National Top Think Tank), director of the International Law Institute (national key research base), and doctoral supervisor of Law School at Wuhan University, also holds as standing vice-chairman and Secretary-General of China’s Society of Private International Law, standing director of China Law Society, member of International Law Advisory Committee of Ministry of Foreign Affair of PRC, member of Advisory Committee of Supreme People’s Procuratorate of PRC, member of International Commerce Expert Committee of the Supreme People’s Court of PRC, vice chairman of Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, member of review group of National Social Science Fund, and editor-in-chief of WUDA International Law Review. He has published over 300 academic articles in journals and magazines issued in PRC, USA, UK, Holland and other jurisdictions, and published more than 20 academic monographs and textbooks on private international law, arbitration law, and international civil litigation. Some research achievements above have got the first class award for legal textbook and academic achievement by the Ministry of Justice of China, and the first class award for national outstanding teaching achievement by the Ministry of Education of China. He was honored some honorary titles, such as the “Top Ten Outstanding Young Jurists of China” by Chinese Society of Law in 2010, the “National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of PRC in 2021, and the “excellent Social Scientist” by Hubei Province in 2021,etc.
Pro. Xiao received his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D in law in 1988 and 1993 respectively from Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Wuhan University School of Law.
