Dr. Xiang Gao, holding a Ph.D. in Law from the University of New South Wales, is currently a Professor of Law at the China University of Political Science & Law (CUPL), and the Director for the Centre of International Banking Law & Practice at CUPL.


He serves as Vice-Chair of the ICC Global Commission on Commercial Law and Practice, Member of the Legal Committee of the ICC Banking Commission, ICC DOCDEX Expert, and Consultant for the ICC Academy. Additionally, he is the Executive Chairman of ICC China Commission for Commercial Law and Practice, and a Member of the Group of Experts in International Settlement of the ICC China Banking Commission. He is also the Vice President of the China Society of Comparative Law and President of the Beijing Banking Law Society, and an arbitrator for the China International Economic & Trade Arbitration Commission.


He has worked in the area of international commercial law for more than 30 years and has published widely in the area. His works in English have been excerpted in textbooks of international business law and international banking law in the US and UK, and cited by courts in the US and Canada.
