Wang Liming is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of Renmin University of China. He was the Executive Vice President of Renmin University of China and the Dean of the Law School. He served as a representative to the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh National People’s Congress, a member of the Finance and Economic Commission of the National People’s Congress, and a member of the Law Committee of the National People’s Congress.He is a distinguished professor under the “National Talent Plan” and a candidate of the “New Century Ten Million Talent Project”, enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. The main social part-time jobs include: Member and Convener of the Law Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Leader of the State Council’s Anti-Monopoly and Anti-Unfair Competition Expert Consultation Group, Vice- Chairman of the National Higher Education Law Discipline Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, Vice-President of the China Law Society, President of the Civil Law Research Association of the China Law Society, Vice-President of the China Consumers Association, Vice-President of the Trial Theory Research Association of the China Law Society, and Vice-Chairman of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.

Professor Wang’s main research area is in the field of civil law, and he has undertaken important research projects including the National Social Science Fund Key Project, the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Major Project, and the Ministry of Education Base Major Project. He has published over 250 papers in core academic journals such as Social Sciences in China, Chinese Journal of Law, Legal Studies, Xinhua Digest, and People’s Daily, and more than 30 monographs, including Research on the General Principles of Civil Law and Research on Property Law. Has won more than ten important national and provincial awards, including the National Excellent Course Award, the Second Prize for National Excellent Teaching Achievement, the Excellent Achievement Award for Humanities and Social Sciences Research in Chinese Universities, the First Prize for Excellent Law Textbooks in National Ordinary Higher Education Institutions, the National Book Award, and the Wu Yuzhang Excellent Award for Humanities and Social Sciences Research.

As a representative to the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh National People’s Congress, a member of the Finance and Economic Commission of the Ninth National People’s Congress, and a member of the Legal Committee of the Tenth and Eleventh National People’s Congress. Professor Wang has participated in the drafting, discussion and revision of many important civil and commercial laws, especially the Civil Code, since the reform and opening up. Due to his significant contributions to legal education and the construction of the rule of law, he has been successively named one of the “Top Ten Outstanding Young Legal Scholars in China” “Top Ten Education Talents in China in 2006” “2007 CCTV China Annual Legal Person” and “2020 CCTV China Annual Legal Person”.
