Dr Ismail Selim is an Associate Professor at Paris 1 University Pantheon Sorbonne. He is an independent arbitrator and legal expert and has established for this purpose "Selim Arbitration". He is the President of the Africa Arbitration Association (AfAA), the President of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI), a member of Guangzhou Arbitration Commission (GZAC) and a board member of Francarbi.On 30 September 2025, Dr. Ismail Selim has obtained the Chinese Government Friendship Award. 

Dr Ismail Selim is the former Director of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) (2017-2025) and former Chairman of the Egypt Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).  

In addition to the above, Dr. Selim is an Accredited Mediator of the London School of Mediation (LSM) as of May 2019 and has been elected as a member of the UNESCO Conciliation and Good Offices Commission as of Jan 2020.

Dr. Selim obtained his PHD in international arbitration from Burgundy University (Dijon-France) in 2009. Dr. Selim also teaches Private International Law and Arbitration Law at "Ecole de Droit de la Sorbonne au Caire", since 2011. He began as a judge before joining Zulficar & Partners Law Firm, where he became a partner in international arbitration in 2013. Further, in May 2015, he joined Nour and Selim in association with Al Tamimi & Company as Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution, Cairo (2015-2017).
