Liu Xiaohong is a professor and Ph.D. supervisor of law, and the President of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, the President of Shanghai Arbitration Commission. She was appointed and served as the Vice Chairman of the ICC Commission on Arbitration & ADR between 2016 and 2019. Currently, she is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration & ADR, Vice Chairman of ICC China Commission on Arbitration & ADR, Vice Chairman of China Society of Private International Law and Vice Chairman of Shanghai Law Society, President of the Institute for the Belt and Road Initiative of Shanghai Law Society, and chief expert of Collaborative Innovation Center of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Legal adviser of the Shanghai municipal government. She also practices as an arbitrator in China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, and Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa, among others, and mediator in Shanghai-Rhone-Alpes International Mediation Center.

Prof. Liu has taken charge of around 20 research projects at national or provisional level, among them including 2 major projects of China National Social Science Foundation. She has authored or co-authored more than 10 textbooks and academic works and published more than 100 papers related to law in domestic or international journals. She used to be visiting scholars and visiting professors in Ghent University (Belgium), T. M. C. Asser Institute of International Law (the Netherlands), University of Wisconsin Law School (USA), University of Temple (USA), University of San Francisco (USA), etc. She was elected as Top 10 Excellent Young Jurists in Shanghai, and Top 10 People of the Year for the Rule of Law of China (CCTV) in 2018.
