Shi Jingxia

Shi Jingxia is a professor (international business & economic law) at Law School of Renmin University of China (RUC) and director of the National Foreign Rule of Law Research Base. Previously she was a professor and the former Dean(04/2014-09/2019) of Law School of China University of International Business & Economics(UIBE).


Prof. Shi earned her B.A. a & LL.B. in 1992, Ph.D. in International Law (1998) from Wuhan University. She also holds a LL.M. degree (2007) and a J.S.D. degree (2011) from Yale Law School. She joined the UIBE Law Faculty in August 1998 and moved to RUC in July 2021. She has been a member of New York Bar since June 2011, a member of Chinese Bar Association since 1999, a member of governing council of International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome, Italy since 2014, an appointed Conciliator at International Center for Settlement of Investment Dispute (ICSID) since August 2017, a board member of International Insolvency Institute (III), and an International Member of American College of Bankruptcy (ACB). She was the first president of the Asia Pacific Region, an international committee member of the American Institute of Bankruptcy (ACB), and a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on International Trade and Investment. She holds the International Arbitration Advanced Certificate of CIArb (London). She also holds more than ten national and provincial awards, including "The Seventh National Top Ten Outstanding Young Jurists". She has presided over a number of key projects of the National Social Science Foundation, and projects of the Ministry of Education, UNESCO, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Ministry of Commerce.


Prof. Shi has been retaining extensive practical and research interests in the areas of international trade and investment law with abundant publications both in English and Chinese. Her main research field is International economic law, including international investment law, international trade law, international bankruptcy and reorganization law, etc. She has published more than 60 academic papers in Chinese and English in authoritative academic journals such as Chinese Social Sciences and Journal of World Trade (SSCI). She is the author of Free Trade and Cultural Diversity in International Law, WTO Service Trade Law, WTO International Service Trade Case Study, Transnational Bankruptcy Legal Issues Research and other monographs in Chinese and English.
