​Judge Gao Xiaoli

Judge Gao Xiaoli was born in September 1973. She holds a Juris Doctor degree. She studied at the University of Montreal (Canada) from September 1999 to July 2000. Judge Gao has worked at the SPC since July 1994, starting in the Economic Division, and subsequently transferred to the Fourth Civil Division,the First Circuit Court,the International Cooperation Department, the Sixth Circuit Court and the Second Civil Division. She was appointed as a judge in June 2011, and in January 2015 she became a Presiding Judge of the First Circuit Court of the SPC. In September 2017, Judge Gao was appointed as the Deputy Chief Judge of the Fourth Civil Division. She was the Director General of the International Cooperation Department since April 2020 and served concurrently as the Deputy Chief Judge of the Sixth Circuit Court since February, 2021. She became the Chief Judge of the Fourth Civil Division in December 2022. She was appointed as the Chief Judge of the Second Civil Division in October 2023. At the 34th plenary meeting of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, she was elected judge of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal (a term from 15 November, 2022 to 30 June, 2026). She was appointed as the Deputy Chief Judge of the Appeals Tribunal in June, 2023(a term from 1 July, 2023 to 31 December, 2023) and be appointed as the Chief Judge of the Tribunal in October 2023(a term from 1 January, 2024 to 31 December, 2024).
